Accidentally deleted my work :(

Hey Reader,

I had a whole email ready to go for today and I guess I accidentally deleted it? I was writing it on my computer in Notepad and I closed the tab without saving because I thought I had it saved somewhere else but...apparently not?

Oops. Dammit!

I'm sure it was a great email, and I know I shared a story, but I wrote it earlier this week and I absolutely couldn't remember what I wrote. This is why, when I have newsletter ideas, I dictate them right away into my notes. Because my ADHD brain just zooms along with ideas, and no matter how great they are, if I don't capture them somewhere immediately, POOF! They're gone!

In our weekly meeting for The Acknowledgments this week, I mentioned that it felt like I hadn't gotten anything done, even though I'd gotten a lot done. But it all felt like "not enough". And one of the things I often encourage my authors is to remember that "not enough" is our inner critic lying to us, not what's actual reality.

So here's a quick note to say Happy Friday! and tell you 3 things I did that I'm proud of.

1. I revamped the Editorial Services Guide. If you've ever seen this guide, you know it didn't have good flow. I completely rewrote the guide this week (I thought this project would take me one day, it took me four. Story of my life.) I think it looks pretty terrific now and I'm super proud of how it flows, the information it shares, and how it looks minus a few little things that I'll always be critical of.

Also, get yourself an assistant like Dan who will be your best cheerleader and say things like this and give you all the warm fuzzies:

"It looks SO good!! I love the design of this, and it’s beautifully thought through.
I know it took a while, but gosh look at this remarkable career you’ve created for yourself in the past few years. It’s something to be very proud of."

2. I completed edits on 2 books and sent them off to the author/to the copy editor (one was a thriller for Amazon's Thomas & Mercer imprint). One of the books was nearly 160,000 words and one was nearly 90,000 words. That's a lot of words I read over the past few months for just those two projects!

3. I worked out several times this week and I got multiple small organizing projects done around the house this week. Both of these are a Big Deal to me because these things contribute to my physical and mental well-being, and I'm pretty proud of that!

There's so much more I accomplished this week, including things that seem "small" but just doing them is important to my life or work. It's easy for all of us to get caught up in believing it's only the huge milestones that "count"!

Today, I invite you to set a timer for 5 minutes and quickly write down everything, big and small, that you accomplished or are proud of this week. I'll bet, like me, your list is a lot longer than you realize!

Thanks for being here with me, if you want to tell me something you're proud of, I'd love to hear it!

~Angela

PS: If you find a typo in the Editorial Services Guide, you can reply to this email and let us know. We're always happy to hear feedback if you have it!

Hey Reader,, There's no shortage of advice for authors. Facebook groups, Reddit threads, YouTube videos. In fact, information about publishing is everywhere, it's free, and a lot of it sounds pretty reasonable. Sometimes it all sounds reasonable. Maybe too reasonable? Not only that, but there's also no shortage of people promising you that if you "just do this one thing" or "do it this exact way" or spend money to just "use FB or Amazon ads" or "let me show you exactly how I did it" you'll...
