It's been quiet in these newsletter parts but we've just dusted off the weekly Editing Espresso and Angela's Advice sequences so those will be starting up again, plus I'll be sending regular weekly emails again. Of course I'm open to romance, thrillers, mysteries, women's fiction and fantasy BUT I just completed edits on 2 non-fiction projects and I would love to do a 3rd this spring (specifically business or prescriptive non-fiction. I'm the wrong editor for memoirs.) Just reply to this email and I'll send you some information (there's absolutely no obligation, you can just email to ask for info). You can also find some information on my website. Fun news: we fostered (to adopt) a new dog from our local humane society!! It's been a year since we had to say goodbye to our Spooki and we finally felt ready to welcome a new dog into our family. We really felt that Tulip, our current dog, needed a young companion to play with and keep her company so we scouted around for the dog that seemed right for her. Turns out she does NOT like bigger dogs, so though we were going to adopt a pitty mix (who was so sweet) she was simply too big for Tulip and the body language during interaction was all wrong. Thankfully, we were able to meet a dog that had just come off stray hold that day--meet Booker Malcolm Washburn. Yes, that's a big name for a small dog (17lbs) but...Firefly. I'm a long-time Firefly (NOT Joss Whedon) fan and so I gave him a Firefly mashup name. His initials are BMW so he's got the same initials as my daughter and at least one person in this house has already started calling him Beamer lol. The (5) cats in my house have slowly gotten used to him over the past 2 weeks, while we practice the 2-week shutdown period, and we're pretty sure that eventually everyone can happily co-exist and I'm planning on finalizing his adoption tomorrow. Yay! My favorite comment so far about it was from one of my authors who said she'd been using it to help plot a new series and she kept saying "Oh! I have to know that? Oh damn, I have to think about that?" Basically, it was a guideline that helped her not just keep track of details in an existing series, but actually helped her with ideas for the brand new series. If you have any questions at all about the template, just email us/reply to this email and Dan will be happy to answer!

Hey Reader,, There's no shortage of advice for authors. Facebook groups, Reddit threads, YouTube videos. In fact, information about publishing is everywhere, it's free, and a lot of it sounds pretty reasonable. Sometimes it all sounds reasonable. Maybe too reasonable? Not only that, but there's also no shortage of people promising you that if you "just do this one thing" or "do it this exact way" or spend money to just "use FB or Amazon ads" or "let me show you exactly how I did it" you'll...

Hey Reader, I had a whole email ready to go for today and I guess I accidentally deleted it? I was writing it on my computer in Notepad and I closed the tab without saving because I thought I had it saved somewhere else but...apparently not? Oops. Dammit! I'm sure it was a great email, and I know I shared a story, but I wrote it earlier this week and I absolutely couldn't remember what I wrote. This is why, when I have newsletter ideas, I dictate them right away into my notes. Because my ADHD...
