This is my last quick note about The Acknowledgments until we have our next open enrollment in September, but a theme showed up this past week as people talked to me about joining the group--there was a real theme of "trust" that happened in those conversations. What I heard was feelings of being let down, feeling wary (and weary) thanks to past relationships and just wondering how to find a new support system to trust. If that sounds like something that appeals to you, come check us out! There's no genre requirements, we have authors writing across genres. You can be located anywhere in the world. We currently have members in a variety of time zones and countries, including Japan, England and Israel. You don't need to be a full-time author, we have members who write on the fringes of their lives, members who work demanding full-time jobs, members with kids, families and pets that take up the majority of their time, and some members who are full-time authors. There's a place and opportunity for everyone. |

Your values don't align with the space. Our values need to be shared up front because it's vital to our group culture: In The Acknowledgments we believe in inclusive, ethical, and sustainable author careers (sustainable is...
Hey Reader, Quick reminder that you can join us for one of our scheduled Discussion Meetings tonight (Thursday) at 5:30p Eastern. Just reply to this email and I'll send you the info! I had a conversation with an author last week that made me realize there's something we don't talk about often in publishing. We talk about how hard the writing and publishing is, of course. But we rarely talk about how hard it can be to feel as if you actually have a place with other authors in publishing. To...
Hey Reader, This winter I decided to dive into the world of Facebook ads and there's one person that I know and trust to guide me through that--Zach Spuckler. I signed up for his Facebook Ads bootcamp, added the VIP option, and had my ads up and running in that week. Then I joined his Ads HQ membership because my whole experience was so fantastic. If there's one thing I learned about Zach and his team from that one-week bootcamp (and then in the months that have followed) it's that they...
