Let me show you what made me emotional today
I'm planning my edit schedule for October and November and thought I'd send a quick newsletter about my editorial openings. I decided I wanted to feature a voice note that I'd received from one of my author's this past week, Anna Richland.
Hey Angela, I just wanted to say that the reviews coming in for Checking Out the Librarian on Goodreads are blowing me away. And I just wanted to thank you for the editing and for how you pushed me really hard to keep improving Jonathan's reaction to Connor's trauma because that is hitting people so well. And I am just really happy with the final product. So if you want to go over and look at some of those reviews, I think they reflect on your skills as well as mine. Thank you. Anna wrote back to say that yes, of course I could use it but maybe I wanted to see the acknowledgments she wrote for Checking Out the Librarian first? So she attached an epub of the book and when I opened it and scrolled to the acknowledgments, here's what I saw: Friends, sometimes I'm mentioned in the acknowledgments of a book as a line item, and I appreciate just being mentioned, sometimes I'm not mentioned, and that's totally okay, and sometimes there's no acknowledgments at all, which is also fine. But sometimes in the acknowledgments there's a truly heartfelt mention of me by an author that gets me in all my squishy emotional places.
